what kind of "wavy" Grover / Rickenbacker tuners are these?

Hello!

I bought these off of eBay.

I didn't notice their scale; I thought they were for a 4001.

Imagine my surprise when they showed up and were about 1/2 the size of bass tuners!

So, I don't know what these are.

Can you fine folks help me in identifying them?

If you click on the photos they will get bigger.

thanks in advance -

Richard

They look like vintage Grover "guitar" tuners...................I have never seen the square shape before though.

These are late '60s Grover Deluxe tuners; one step down from Imperials, which also have cast cases, though of a much larger and more decorative design. Only 4, huh?

Anybody got a tenor geetar?

Mitch, you took the words right out of my mouth. Well, almost - mine's an '82, with tuners exactly like that.

Yes...most of these I've seen on Rickenbackers have been examples from the early 80's.

Those are Grover Slimline, V100 guitar machines. I bought a set years ago for my Gretsch 6123 Monkees.

I removed a set of those slimlines from a late '30s lapsteel, didn't seem to be the appropriate replacement and that pot metal look makes me nervous.

I don't know when Grover came out with Slimlines, but I doubt it was the '30s. I saw a set on a double cutaway Gretsch Chet Atkins 6120 (later dubbed "Nashville") Chet Atkins was holding. I thought they'd look a lot better on my Monkees than the 70's Gibson keystone machines someone had installed on it. Kind of like Pontiac hubcaps on a Chevy truck!
