PROTOTYPE FENDER BASSMAN 5D6 - ECHOSONIC EKOSOUND OR STANDEL

Hello everyone,

I have one of the only 5 prototype 4x10 Fender Bassmans, and I am interested in knowing if anyone out there would consider a trade for it.

IT HAS THE EARLIEST SERIAL NUMBER OF THE 4x10s KNOWN TO EXIST -- SERIAL # 0013, both on the Tube Chart AND stamped on the chassis. It is a late 1954 model 5D6 (not 5D6-A), no schematic is known to exist.

It's got all original transformers, has been recapped (power caps) and a 3prong plug for safety, but the new caps have been recovered with the old orange Astron labels. The TONE CAPS are all original, as is the selenium rectifier (with a small SS diode for protection).

PM me if you think you have something of interest. Here's what I'm after at the moment:

1955 Ray Butts Echosonic model EA-1
1958-196x Rickenbacker Ek-O-Sound model M-30
1953-19xx Standel model 25L15 or similar

Thank you,
Frank

Hi there,

boy, a 50L huh? Very nice.

Can you post photos of these two amps? I'd love to see details of them if at all possible - PM or email me if you can.

Thank you,
Frank

Hello everyone,

I need to sell off 0013 asap to fund a custom boutique hand-made amp.

There is some urgency, so I am (for now) willing to part with it for less than 5-figures.
It will be on eBay and for local sale soon if no taker.

Please get in touch with me whenever time (and money) permit.

Thank you,
Frank

Since I've been getting mail about this for some time, I just wanted to let everyone know that I sold my 1954 Fender Bassman SN 0013 to a guy in Taipei City Taiwan for 5 grand. He paid a thousand dollars to ship it there, which is what UPS wanted for this. He received it in 3 days. I highly recommend UPS... just amazing service.

For those interested, more than 5 of these amps have now surfaced. They are:

0035 (Albert Talley), 0075 (Jim Cornett), 0077 (Perry Tate), 0089 (Mark Grandfield), 0701, 0745 (Walter Horton), 0769 (Hayes Kolb), 0780 (sold on eBay Nov 2006), and 0783.
