Hi. Is there a j pickups that remind hi gains? with some of the characters?
yes, i know that Ric and jazz bass are completely different animals. and there is a matter for the wood, construction method, hardware, pickups location and more.
but still its interesting me.

Pickup location is 99% of it, I'm convinced.

You can take a Mexican Jazz Bass pickup and wire it to a jack, then take it and have a friend hold it over your bass while you play. In Jazz Bass positions it sounds like a Jazz Bass. In Ric position it sounds like a Ric. Etc...
