Although I'm pretty sure I'll never buy one of these, I think it's pretty cool!

Kind of a Munsters meets "Dusk 'till Dawn" meets Groovey Ghoulies vibe.

It would be great for a Halloween gig :)

How exactly did we make it out of the 80's without this happening already? ;)

Epiphone digging their own grave.......quite literally?

Seriously, that is quite possibly the first and only guitar that should ever properly reside in a coffin case.

That's the worst thing I've ever seen from Epiphone.

What a load of Cr@p!
But then again, if you take a look at some of the band names these goth/metal bands are taking, this might fit in perfectly!
Did i really say that? Oh gosh i'm getting old!

It's ugly as sin. No way around it.

*BUT*

It's not too far removed from some vintage Vox designs when you think about it.

Still, I'll be six feet under myself before I ever have one of these hideous monsters.

Definitely: Players of Goth, 60s style garage punk, and some types of metal music will all love it! :D

I love the way the headstock continues the body's Steinberger Coffin groove....

NOT!!!

Great design work, Gibson!!! Kudos to the brain-dead marketing department:

"It's ugly as hell, but we'll flog thousands of them to pimply-faced Wylde wannabees...get the Korean factory on the phone!!!"

In other words, money trumps aesthetics yet one more time. :( :( :( :( :(

Wonder what that Gibson troll from the other night would have to say about this.

Y'know, in all honesty--I was lest stunned opening the pic of this guitar than I was when I opened my brand new 1996RI from Ric. I saw the NAMM model on the web site, and actually saw one of the NAMM models up close and personal...so imagine my surprise when I opened my non-refundable deposit brand new 1996RI in fluorescent orange-glo.

Of course, this was the same year they were having difficulties with black, so maybe I'm being too harsh.

Well, not harsh, but certainly not objective...color, especially burst color, is a variable thing. AFG 1996s went back and forth over the color spectrum and spray patterns, as manufacturing was spread over about 3 years. Mine is very early production, and looks quite '60s with its orangey AFG. Local RRFer Philip's is even earlier than mine and has the darker AFG, but a Clownglo spray pattern. Later ones have the best of both worlds--darker color and subtler spray pattern.

You could've always sold it...until recently you could find lots of buyers and probably have turned a small profit, too.
