Possibly so Joshua,
The prices have come down true, but a few years back, these were selling steadily from $4500.00 to 5500.00, one oddball bringing as much as $7500.00. Never say Never with a RIC & Olivia's!
You never know, as many forumites here know, I've turned down lots more than that figure for mine!
They also have a SEA GREEN V63 too!
They are amazing at finding such rare RICS!

Makes me wonder just how they do it? EDIT: On a re-read that sounds like I'm highly suspicious of them, and in a way I am, but I don't mean they're going out killing people for these basses or doing something else unscrupulous. They're probably just really good at finding pawn shop deals and people looking to sell... Don't read too much into what I say.
I guess as a collector's item the price might make some more sense. I just have a hard time seeing it that way. Neat bass regardless... I'd sooner go for that 4001FL in Autumnglo/Walnut though. Pretty nifty, again overpriced IMO but nifty.

Josh, they are most uncanny at hitting BIN auctions very quickly after they start. That is how many are acquired.
Not sure the fact it is #3 and also artist owned warrants the price though. Not for me.

Great. Now we're in the age of "vintage remakes".

Don't bet on it. I've seen an
amazing number of guitars sold by Olivia's that everyone said were way too high...

Yep. I used to be really down on those guys (see a number of previous posts I've made that were less than positive), but Joseph has turned out to be a real prince in a couple of deals, and I have to say that they do deal, and I've never heard of anyone being dissatisfied with their dealings with Olivia's. High prices, but really choice stuff. They go the extra yard in post-sales satisfaction, too.

I would think the association with Rudy Sarzo would lower the value.

i too was once down on them, but having sold a couple basses to them - and then lusting after my own former-aquisitions in their auctions - i couldn't help but admit they've got it down to an art.

I wish they has a shop in England!
They probably have a reputation for doing cash deals for the right stuff so it attracts guys selling that want to skirt around all the hassle of ebay.
As mentioned they must scour the ads and ebay etc. to pounce on the stuff quickly.
Music Ground in England do the same kind of thing (hence the CS 21 fretter saga) but they really pile on the profit big style compared to Olivias.
Early CS?
How about August 1990?
Check out the way the finish has sunk into the grain below the tailpiece after all this time.
