I am trying to organize my Rick vintage amp collection. I have several '50s amps with speakers (8" and 12") that have a six-digit ID stamped on them that begins with 395. I have searched the internet and can't find any source that identifies the mfg. of these speakers.

Your suggestions will be appreciated.

I have traced the Permaflux Company to 4900 W Grand Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The company seems to have made drive-in speakers and earphones. What, some may ask, is a drive-in?

Either a dang big speaker... or the little speaker-thingies you hang at your car's window at a drive-in?

Thanks much for your detective work. That knowledge is very helpful. Considering the source, I need look no further.

FWIW, this brand of speaker was used in at least some of the famous "R"-grille amps, of which I have two, as well as in some M-8s. I'll be adding these to the Register soon.

For those of you dutifully marking the days using the RRF Calendar (or just looking at it occasionally), those amps are displayed as part of the backline for "Miss August." For those of you who are not into calendars, here's the pic:
