Problems with Firefox?
Problems with Firefox?
Gil,
I was wondering if something is amiss with Firefox?
I can't view, or even see for that matter, ANY of the YOUTUBE links in the posts.
BUT, if I switch to the Internet Explorer, there they are!
This has been a hit and miss problem and I'm not sure if it is my computer (VISTA...UGH) or something out of my control.
Thanks!
Tony

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Hmm, Firefox works fine for me, but that's with Windows XP Pro. It also works fine on the Mac's...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Problems with Firefox?
Thanks for checking CJ,
It isn't working on Facebook either...I can view posts, but can't RESPOND to them.
Just checked if there was a Firefox update, and it say's I'm up to date.
This happened once before here on the RRF and it lasted for about 2 days, then it started working again.
I tried my wife's laptop, and it is doing the same thing.....Vista on that laptop as well.

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Sounds like a privacy setting thing - have you checked for cookies and privacy settings in FF?

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Tony did you just update flashplayer?
I do not want to send you on a wild goose chase but YouTube recommends the following.
1. Uninstall your flashplayer using Adobe's uninstall tool (important, do not use add/remove programs)
2. Restart your computer
3. Re-install Adobe's latest flash player (As a general rule this is preferrable to just updating your flashplayer)
We await Gil's response.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Thanks Peter,
I'll give it a try!
I did update the flash player around the time of SCARF, which is the exact same time I had the problem a few weeks ago.
I'll delete using the removal tool and try again.
Much appreciated Peter!

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Ok,
Done....installed using the removal tool.
No help. Only now, I can't see the RRF LOGO on top, just a big bright red border.
MAN I HATE VISTA!
I have to run for a bit, I'll check back in a few hours.

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Tony, check here for a solution.
Re: Problems with Firefox?
LOL,
Thanks Jeff...I can ALWAYS count on you for a viable solution!
PROBLEM SOLVED....
I DELETED Firefox, and REINSTALLED....I checked for an update, and it said I have the most current version.
BUT, upon checking, I had version 3.5 and 3.5.2 is the newest release...so, all appears well for now!
Got me, I said it before, I'll say it again!

Re: Problems with Firefox?
Hey there,
As usual, I am a bit late for the party
Youtube movies in RRF are nothing more than a "sophisticated" link, this is an embedded content that is being played directly from youtube. Basically, the moment the browser looks at the content of the embedded part it goes directly to youtube.com to watch the movie.

So long and thanks for all the fish!
Re: Problems with Firefox?
LOL,
Not a problem Gil, just glad to have it all worked out.
I tell myself again and again, my next computer will be a MAC...I've HAD it with Microsoft.

Re: Problems with Firefox?
MAC's are pretty good, we've got two of 'em running most of the time, unfortunately, they've managed to move to the Microsoft model of software development - if something doesn't work, just reboot. There's quite a few things these days that just seem to not work quite right, not as bad as MS, but they seem to be working towards getting to be just as bad.
Linux is pretty good, I use that on a nearly daily basis too. I've been a Unix guy since 1978, so Linux is pretty "natural" for me. It's biggest "problem" is the availability of applications (this is a problem with MAC's too). There's just so much out there for windoze, some of it has migrated to MAC's, even less to Linux.
