Overheard in the studio yesterday..

My band was in the studio yesterday recording. One of the numbers is a sort of cross between new wave disco, and progressive rock. One of the parts of the song has an odd time signature.
Our singer, Meatball, commenting on the band's difficulty at nailing the part with the odd time signature:
"You guys are playing in threes; I've
NEVER heard a band play in threes".
Me: "That's because you've never been to a prog show; go put your cape on and it'll all make sense"....
When a decent mix is completed, I'll post the song.

Well now I feel much better Paul since it appears that I have company so to speak. I used to have similar issues with my bandmates who could not "get" some of the weird time signatures that I injected into my material and also on occasion into my interpretation of songs by other artist. You have made my day
I am really looking forward to hearing the studio cuts from one of my favourite bands that belong to this forum. You guys are great.

Odd time signatures?

That's normal for me.

In one of my songs I have a section is a 4 measure phrase, each measure being in a different time signature:
10/16 | 7/16 | 11/16 | 14/16

Thanks all. Will post when available. Probably the next thing to be posted will be a video, but that's a couple months down the road.
Jeff, that's some wild timing-impressive (!)-I have socket sets that resemble that timing, but I'd have trouble playing that, I think; Sfd is generally a simple, original pop band!

You'd have to take on the nickname Ratchet.
