Ouch, I'd give Rickenbacker and Mike Parks a call, they are still in right now, hurry !!
Sorry to see that man.
I'm surprised the bass can move inside the case. I have the new SKB and the older style cases they all fit very snug.
..and I was hoping your next post would be about how great it sounded and was to play.

She's still a beautiful bass Michael, nice catch.

Yes, ouch. Unfortunately, unless they know of some way of patching that yourself, I don't think Ric will be of much help, as this guitar is out of warranty now and it was damaged in shipping. I would call Mike and see what your options are.

I agree it's still a nice bass, but I also feel your pain at buying a MINT bass.

I highly dislike UPS because of their long-standing reputation for parcel mistreatment.

Sorry that happened Michael, but you have the right attitude (and I'm sure nobody will know about the character mark but you)!

Michael: A truly beautiful bass that is very difficult to capture in a photograph. I agree with John, you do have the right attitude. Whether the instrument I purchase is used or new, sooner or later I end up putting a ding in it. Sometimes I enjoy it better from that point forward. It is a cool bass. Congratulations.

Would anyone care to comment on whether it would be advisable to treat that little patch with cyanoacrylate (crazy glue) to keep the finish from continuing to flake away. What about the possibility of using crazy glue to reattach the "chip"?

I had a refin 70's ric that had some binding cracking and falling off ... due the the refinishing technique ... anyway super glue fixed it fine ...

Mike, I'm glad you played your bass and have calmed down about the chip, like you said, you can't hear the chip, and I think most people would hardly notice it unless you pointed it out.
Now you don't have to worry about putting it's first msrk on it, it's done already. It would probably be hard to prove that it was the fault of UPS mistreatment.
You can try the cyanoacrylate, but find out what your options are first.
