I was looking through my Recording the Beatles book, and I noticed where George Harrison brings in his personal 8 track recorder for the group to use during the Let it Be film. According to the book, he tells the people using it that it cost ten thousand pounds. What would that be in 2009 dollars?

It's not easy to calculate that,
1 Pound was $2.8 in 1969, so it was $28,000 back then.
Now - how much would $28,000 would be today? depends:
Using the consumer price index would give us $164,398.25.
Using the value of consumer bundle would give us $176,579.70.
this calculator, however, tells us that it should be $188,000.
But you get the general idea...
