"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die"

Reno is in Nevada. Folsom prison is in California.

Would someone please explain this to me? Thanks.

who dares question the man in black! ;)

Guess it's just part of the character's rap sheet. The killing was done in Reno -but he ended up serving time in Folsom?

Johnny knows his geography; as far as I can by listening to him drop place names in his songs. :D

He doesn't say he's in jail FOR the killing in Reno.

Maybe it was just one of the killings.

Maybe the man was some sort of law enforcement, or lived in California, or was busted on the other side of the state line and Nevada gave Cali the jurisdiction because of the bigger, more intense jail. Nevada may have not had a jail yet to house those high security risk inmates.

Or, like Kris said
