Accent vibrola string angle problem

I've installed the Accent on several guitars and noticed something very interesting. On some guitars, the string angle from the bridge to the Accent is perfect. But on some other guitars, the angle is so shallow that the Accent is unuseable. Simply strumming the strings or even slight string bends will wack the string out of the bridge saddle. Any ideas as to why this happens, and how to fix it?

David is the "ramp" angle different on the guitars that you are having trouble with?

My 335MG was like that David. Gave it a clangy tone too. Meanwhile the 1997SPC/VB performed flawlessy. Good luck in getting it sorted.

All my guitars are 330 type hollow bodies. Some vintage, some reissue. But the basic specs ( and the "ramp) are all basically the same. All strung with 10's. They all have great neck angles too.

Most of the time the spring is the culprit (if it's worn out, or not "springy" enough).

You can put the spring in a bench vise and squeeze it closer together. The two halfs of a proper working Ac'cent should not sit "flush" without string pressure, if you know what I mean .

How do I upload pics that are small enough? I always get a message saying the file is too big.....

How big are your files? They need to be no larger than 1280x1280 and less than 300KB.

But the treble side looks much better.

I don't remember the side being closed off like that. Is that an old Accent, or a reissue?

It's the newest reissue, which also comes with a plastic washer like the originals, not the "wavy" metal washers. The angle on this guitar is okay, just wish it were a tad better....

So about the part that holds the strings and arm: does it only slide off in one direction, since the treble side has that "wall" on it?

Actually, both sides have the "wall" like a real vintage piece.
