Maybe this was addressed before, but here goes. I love Rics, but I don't love the finished fingerboard. I prefer the feel of raw wood, or a finished board that is not as slick. What is the best way to remove the glassy smoothness without affecting the value of the guitar?

Dave, just have a gander at the thread on "Micromeshing a Neck" in this very same section. Applies to fretboards, too, and it can be buffed back to gloss easily if and when you decide to sell the guitar.

Would you go with the micromesh or the Lem oil?

I'd try the Lem-Oil first, David--spray some onto a clean cotton cloth and wipe until the strings and fretboard are feeling slick, then use a dry cotton cloth to remove any residual oils and shine things up a bit. The essential oils left help to remedy that "sticky" feeling.

If this doesn't give you the feel you like, try the Micromesh next.
