A friend of mine went to see a Baseball Project / Minus 5 / Steve Wynn gig last Thursday and caught Peter Buck with the guitar shown below.
Now, I've never seen him with this - it looks quite new. Peter Buck (or PLB to fans) has quite a few Ricks, but I still wonder if it's his...

You're right should've noticed that. I've wanted a 660/12 since I first came across this video:

Cool looking bass in that top photo, although with the pinstripes on the pickguard, looks like it's for a Yankees fan.
Pete's guitar in that pic is cool, and his playing even cooler. Must have been fun for your friend to have been at that show.

Well, it was mainly a Baseball Project gig, eh If I remember correctly from an interview, Scott McCaughey ("McOi" - the guy with the bass) is indeed a Yankees fan. What brand is the bass anyway?
My friend sure is lucky - the best thing about the whole thing is that the band members are really friendly and always in for a preshow or postshow chat. She got her picture taken together with Peter Buck, again, I think she has one from every gig
I hope the Venus 3 (Peter Buck on guitar, Scott McCaughey on bass, Bill Rieflin on drums = 3/5th of R.E.M. touring band) will come to the UK again this February for Robyn Hitchcock's UK annual tour of the British Isles. I want to know what Peter's favourite Rick is right now!

It's an Airline bass, by Eastwood. Trying to recapture the Supro vibe.

Hey, Just got me the real deal from '62! It's a National. Check the Gretsch style contoured case. This one isn't mine, but mine is exactly the same. Super short scale, sounds like the 2nd bass on much of Ritchie Valens recordings. OH, BABY!!!

I REALLY wish Peter would cut his hair. He looks like a dork!

Yeah, Daniel's videos are amazing.....not only can he nail Marr's parts, but Andy Rourke's bass too!

Thanks, I don't know a thing about basses

I like the shape and colour of that one... just too bad it's not a guitar

Actually the only person I've got a subscription to on YouTube!

Nah, he'll do that for R.E.M. tours anyway. He should grow another of those Marx beards again in the meantime... right now he has a Tarzan look

I saw the Baseball Project show in Atlanta. I didn't count the number of songs that BP played guitar on, but it sure seemed like he was on bass for most of the show. Those were some cool Rics they were playing, and this was a really good band.
I like Peter Buck. It is his fault that I bought my first Ric back in the '80s. After this show I have huge amount of respect for him as a player and cool guy. He's a multi-millionaire arena rocker who went on tour in a van with his buddies to play little bars for 100 people. You won't see Sting and Bono doing that.
This is my first post . Is there an introductions area?

Hi Len - Welcome!
If there's an introduction area then I never found it. I aimply started a thread about my 360 JG; now, who's fault is it I got that one, eh?
Peter plays a lot of bass on Minus 5 songs and during Minus 5 gigs - the Baseball Project's basically half of Minus 5 with half of Steve Wynn IV. A recipe for a good night!
