Scatterwound Toaster Ohm readings?

I just installed a pair of Scatterwound Toasters in one of my 360s, and am very impressed with the tone. Lots of chime, nice definition, no mud. They measure 6.99K, and 6.68K, Is this normal as I always thought these measured out at 7.4K? I got them from the Boutique.

The 7.4K is a nominal measurement only, I think.

It also matters how you measure them. Best is out-of-circuit.

Yes, any resistance in parallel with the pickup will make them read lower.

I'm measuring them as received from Rickenbacker connecting the multimeter directly to the + and - ends of the wire. I want to mwntion that I'm pleased with the change in tone fron the 12K toasters that were originally in the guitar, just curious as to why the pickups are touted as 7.4K.

you're good. I've bought 3 sets and they average 7k. more jangle!

Temperature changes the reading you get also. I think the 7.4k is touted at 70 degrees F or something like that. Colder will read lower. I had some from around 2000 that were around 6.7k and they were fine....great for a 21 fret neck position.
