Stupid question I know. I presume it's the former.

But have been looking for a conversation on the latter since I got my Vox AC4tv 1x10, which has got to be about the best $250 a Ric owner can possibly spend.

Yeah, this forum is for amps made by Rickenbacker.

For info on Vox amps, etc. you might ask in the "Vibrola" forum, in the "Amplifier and Tube Tech" sub-forum, or perhaps in the "Quest for Tone" section...
