Hey all: This may have been posted back in the day, but even if it was, here's a great site with some good info, and a fair amount of opinion, about McCartney's role in how rock bass playing has come from the background to the foreground.

Dennis Alstrand is the creator of this, and he and I have corresponded a bit over the past week or so. I've added some thoughts, and as the home page will tell you, he's more than happy to see what you think or might add to improve the site.

Enjoy.

Sounds like someone hacked the guy's site, or maybe he is distributing viruses himself?

Dennis seems like a good guy in the e-mails we have exchanged; I've been to his site several times on different computers and never have I seen anything resembling a virus or warning. I'll let him know about it.

I mentioned the virus warning to Dennis and he's looking into it.

I read Dennis's material on Paul's playing way back in the mid-90s. He and I corresponded quite a bit about the Anthology stuff when it was coming out. I also talked with him on the phone a few times. Dennis is a good guy and writes some very interesting stuff about Paul's playing. Jon
