Hi There!
I made a recording with my '78 MG 4001 and my Line 6 POD X3 live. Take a look and listen!

Nice job, Joep! I enjoyed that. One of my favorite Deep Purple songs.

That bass riff sounds like the one in "We Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" by The Blues Magoos ...

Thank you! And without any amplifier in my neighborhood!

Yes, that's certainly impressive. I find recording good tones direct in to be much harder... but then I'm terrible with effects. Your POD seems to do quite a job of it.

A fine job Joep, and always good to hear a rendering of one of R&R's more under-appreciated bassists. I'd never call Purple metal, but they sure knew how to rock.
But you know, Black Night wasn't on Machine Head. It was released as a single in 1970 and came out on a full-length recording on the reissue of In Rock around 1995 or so.

Nice job indeed, Joep! Great tone to mach the tune. What year is your 4001? Sounds a lot like my '75.

Whoops! Haha, that's probably because I was listening to that DVD at that moment!

Yes. And what is even more impressive is that the POD was connected with my PC with a simple USB-cable. Nice story: I was making a preset for this song and i was just listening to the amp simulations on the POD and I ended up with this Marshall Major. Later I asked which amp RG was using during that tour, and it came out that that was the same amp! So: Line 6 ftw!

Nice work, Joep, both with the playing and with the POD tone crafting!
Your '78 sounds similar to my '75 4001 MG in tone.
