Knock-Off Ricks

Hi all,

I saw an ad on craigslist.org for a Rick knock-off.

Is this even legal? I would think that the design and "R" tailpiece is registered as a Rickenbacker Corp. Trademark or something.

As dumb as it may sound this stuff kind of ****** me off. Some poor shmo is possibly going to buy this, dare I say, "330" and maybe not know that he or she could poney up a few more hundred bucks for the real thing (used and newer).

Are Rick "bootlegs" common?

Yes, they are common. And yes, it is a violation of all kinds of trademark, brand, etc. etc.laws. There has been much discussion on this subject all over the RRF.

Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, far too common. RIC goes after as many of them as it can, in order to protect bot trademarks and trade dress.

Rickenfaker

Trademark

Ripoff

Intellectual Property

etc. etc. etc........open a cold beer and enjoy. You'll be there awhile reading it all! :P
