That one's been around...
You have to wonder whether the last picture is the reason the neck cracked.

"VGC- except needs A LOT of work"
I think perhaps that precludes it from being VGC.

VGC- except needs A LOT of work (reseat and dress frets, repair previously repaired neck crack on treble side near headstock, clean or replace rusted and incorrect screws, replace missing pickup cover and clean paint off pickup surround, repair or replace pickguard, setup, etc. - sold AS-IS)
Can this be considered an oxymoron? Or just moronic?

Not if "VGC" is intended to be "Vomiting and Gagging Condition" ...
JPS: I vote for "moronic"!

Geez, I used to have a lot of respect for Elderly Instruments. Maybe they should pay ME to take it off their hands, since I'm sure I'd be spending nearly as much to have the poor thing rebuilt, and refinished.

As I read and scanned each picture, I had a tremendously hard time understanding the VGC rating, so much so that I clicked the Condition Key button at the left of the VGC just to see what they thought that meant. Uh, yeah.

Hmm. I have all the bits left over from my 4000 to 4001S conversion left over, but it's worth about half what they are asking for it.
In fact, there's a nice MG 4000 on the bay right now with a Buy It Now of $1300. Makes the price they are asking for this rather silly.
I'd go $450 tops, and even that's a little high I think.
