PROJECT "X" DEBUTS!

Post by jingle_jangle »

Finally got the owner's permission to post some completion photos of "Project X".

This one has been on my bench on and off for some time, and the owner and I have burned up the ether talking about exactly what would be done with it.

But, after a lot of fiddling and zillions of tiny details, it's done. It's an unusual burst for me, very light shading in an unusual "honey tangerine" color. Newly-added (subtracted?) F-hole, slightly ambered checkerboard purfling and outer white binding, checkerboard headstock binding, new gold guards, and vintage knobs. The owner says it's a "keeper".

Veddy, veddy nice. I love the light burst and those c58 type tuners are a nice subtle touch. You can never have enough checkered binding. Perhaps a guitar made entirely out of the stuff is in the offing?

I dunno who might own it (Witty perhaps?) but it would look at home in a Tex-Mex band alongside a traditional Bajo Sexto...
Must be the warm colour and the binding that makes me think of this.
Lovely!

Love the color. I guess inlays wouldn't have worked on the 24-fret fingerboard without making a new one? I like the look of the dot neck with the checkerboards in any case!

That's a beauty! I have no clue who that one belongs to.

Very nice work Paul. Congrats to both you and the proud owner whoever he/she is.

Curmudge: You have done it again. Another corker.

Definitely a beaut! I'll just have to wait to find out who the owner is, I have no idea...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
