TRC Question

Hey guys, please excuse my ignorance, but...I've seen a few auctions on eBay for TRCs but most don't specify whether these came off a gtr or a bass. Are these the same size? Are they interchangeable or will the gtr TRCs only fit guitars and basses only basses? Thanks for your input!

They are the same part. Older nameplates had model names on them but you can still use them interchangeably.

Except for 12 string TRCs - they are an different shape, but you can tell by looking at them.

I believe all the "raised letter" TRCs are made from the same injection-mold tooling. The 12-string ones I believe are shaved at certain points to avoid interfering with the string paths. The "raised letter" TRCs are the standard issue except for vintage instruments (such as the V63 and C64 basses). The vintage instruments TRCs are back-painted clear acrylic (such as "Plexiglas" which is a trade name). I don't know whether the plexi logos are silk-screen printed or tampo printed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMzj6du4gX8). Apparently, no raised-letter tooling was made for left-handed TRCs, so all lefties have plexi TRCs.
