Recently I bought a device to digize my video tapes. Mainly because of a concert tape from 1990 from a band I was in at the time. The second video I digitized was the "everyting louder than everything else" tape from Motorhead I bought at almost the the same time.
I notice something now I didnt notice at the time (I only had 1 4000 Rick then and not much knowledge about them at all). This bass headstock has wings. Any ideas on this bass?

Maybe it represents this to Lemmy:

The whole band is. Not just Lemmy. I was glad I had earprotection with me when I saw them last week. This video was taken by someone close to us (on the balcony with some distance to the band). You can hear the microphone is not able to take this much loudness.

Lemmy must be the loudest rhythm guitar player in the world ! Did they have a bass player there too ? I know he has used another bass player for recording.

most if not all his ricks had wings on the head and dots. also noticed his old much modified 4001s had dots on the fretboard and wings on the short headstock and seemed to be neckthru. do not know the year or if it was neckthru or set...any one confirm ? looks to be '69-'72 due to the head shape ?

You mean The Head Cat project with Danny B. Harvey on double bass?

Looks like his original Rick; a thru-neck 4000 (probably very early 70s). It's the one he used in Hawkwind (after the Hopf) and throughout early Motorhead - check out some of the early videos (it's on the Ace of Spades vid). It was originally salmon pink when he got it and he stripped it down to bare wood and put a TBird pickup in it.
