I saw a thread recently where someone had a photo of what appeared to be the same model rick in different colors. So, it made me wonder who out there buys "certain" models, years, or colors with some type of method to their rickenbacker madness? :)

You were probably looking at the Rickenbacker National Forest.

Brings to mind:

- Collectors would have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees.

- If a Rickenbacker fell in that forest and nobody was there to hear it, would it make a sound?

Seriously, I can say that there really is no pattern to my collection ... I have a lot of different models, colors, options, etc.

Are you referring to Howard's collection of 350v63's as the Rickenbacker National Forest? If so it does have a nice ring to it.

No. Paul Boyer has claim to it.

The Ricks I've bought are all very different.

All my Ricks are pretty similar. They're all 4000 series basses...

I always buy used. And since Rickenbackers are pretty rare where I live, my collection is simply what Rics cross my path at reasonable prices.

Doubt I could get RIC's permission to © "Rickenbacker National Forest," but here is the aforementioned grove. For Rickendelic's info, I collect Rick basses; so far, only the classic solid-body style to include 4001, 4003, 4004, 4001V63, and 4001C64 types. I like unusual ones, but have some stock models as well.
