Steve...The OCD Guitarist

I thought this would be a funny story to tell about a guitarist I gigged with once.
About 10 years ago, I did about six gigs with a friend's band while they were looking for a permanent drummer. Their guitarist quit unexpectedly, so the slot was filled temporarily by a guy named Steve.
Steve was a young Italian kid, black hair perfectly in place, all black clothes, neat as a pin, black boots with a military shine, and reeking of cologne. He had a black Strat and a black Explorer, both spotless. His Marshall amp was equally spotless. His pedalboard was perfectly put together. He meticulously polished both guitars before the first set. At the end of the first set, instead of leaving the stage, he sat and polished the Explorer again, polished the Strat again (he hadn't used it yet) and only then, did he leave to get a soda.
He played the Strat exclusively for the second set, and polished it
again when we finished. Before the third set began, he polished the Explorer AGAIN, even though he didn't use it second set.
This whole incident cracked me up. I have never known any musician that obsessive about his equipment.
I think one should care about your gear, but Steve was OCD to the max. If you're reading this Steve, my apologies. But seriously dude, you need help!

Give Tony C a JG guitar and he will wear the paint off in less than a month polishing it.

Great story Bob.
Oh and Tony is Italian too

Brian, you know me TOO WELL!

THAT is the THE REASON I can't STAND JETGLO! Freaking FINGERPRINTS drive me INSANE! I spent more time CLEANING the thing than playing it!
Oh, this is SO ITALIAN, it REALLY IS, and YES, I'm of Italian decent, second generation, BOTH SIDES!
I guess I'm OCD but NOT as bad as Steve. My amp DOES get a "BRUSHING" about once a year to get the dust off, but my RIC's are all immaculate. Matter of fact, I was playing my 4003FL this past Sunday, and noticed a few of the PG screws are starting to rust a bit, and thought...I NEED to order some new screws from RIC!
I'm embarrassed to say this, but I play with a cloth diaper (clean of course, I have a bag of 'em) on my lap. Between songs, my babies get a quick wipe down...neck and strings. After the 2 hour set, the entire bass gets a complete wipe down, and I clean the strings with some rubbing alcohol when I return home...AND wipe it down again, just for good measure.
TOO FUNNY!

Tony...I think you might be as bad as Steve after all!

I didn't think Steve's description made him seem like he was all that bad!
I'm kind of OCD about wiping down guitars also and I match the ethnic profile as well.
Tony's not all that bad either, just that he hates JG and likes the NY Mets! What's the matter with that guy?

Thanks for spelling it correctly.
