Hi, an opportunity has come up here in New Zealand to buy what looks like a reasonably priced 2050 I just don't want to get ripped off as it doesn't look like it's all original so it'd be great if someone could let me know roughly what it'd be worth. i've put some pictures up so you can get an idea of the condition

I'm not that familiar with the 2050, but the Vintage Guitar Price Guide says that the US value of one in excellent condition is from $800 - $900 US. Judging from what I can see of it in the pics, it's likely not in excellent condition, given the chips in the finish and the changed knobs.

Welcome, Chris! :)

The bridge is not original, either, I am pretty sure.

Welcome to the forum, Chris!

I agree with Larry and Jeffrey.

Good luck if you go for it.

Hard to tell in the photo due to the reflection, but the bridge might be original. It is the same gold bridge used on the 4004C of that same vintage.

Did RIC use the Schaller bridge at that time? I thought it was the ABM. I will go check my catalog and get back to you, shortly!

I think it should be a gold Schaller bridge on the 2050. Maybe it's just glare, but the one in that photo looks like it's chrome.

So RIC switched to ABM for the 2060, then? The 2000 series catalog I have shows an ABM bridge on the 2060.

Thanks for the info, it's on auction here for roughly $350USD does that sound like a good deal for one that I'm unable to try out. I've always want to join the exclusive I own a Rickenbacker club even if this one isn't the most desirable bass :-)

Chris, those 2000 series basses sound really nice! I'd grab one also if I found one at a really good price.
If that 2050 is in good playing condition, that prices seems good.

That's a good price. The 2030 and 2050 came with a Schaller bridge (chrome or black on the 2030, gold on the 2050.) The 2020 and 2060 came with the ABM bridge.

Thanks for the clarification, Erik! :)

So, the bridge brand is correct, now we need to evaluate the finish, because it does look like chrome compared to the gold tuners!
