Would any of you guys that have both a 660/12 and a Tele or Strat check to see if the 660 would fit in the case ok? I'm looking for an aftermarket case for a 660/12. Thanks!

My 660/12TP JG was too wide to fit in my Rosewood Telecaster case:
The Telecaster was too long for the 660's case, as well.

It will fit in a Gator GC Electric. Here's a pic of a 610 in one. Great neck support on these.

Do those cases prevent movement in the "long" direction (not sure how to describe it, but basically keeping the guitar from sliding length wise in the case). The stock case for both of the 650s I have is absolutely horrible (I think it actually caused some clear coat scuffing on my BBR) and I've been thinking about getting something different to hold at least one of them.

I'll have to try my 660 in my Strat case... its one of those SKB Freedom cases, the small ones... with the Strat body outline cavity in it. I'll let you know. If memory serves the Strat is a little longer than the 660 as these 600 series ones are petite.

A 600 series Rick will be snug in most Tele or Strat cases as the 600's are an inch wider in the lower bout. The construction of the Gator seems good to me. I have my home build in the same case. They are made in China though. This is something I didn't realize until I had them for awhile. There was a tiny black sticker approx 8mm in diameter on it. To " prevent movement in the "long" direction " I think you would need to place something between the upper or lower horn and the compartment wells to prevent the headstock from hitting the top of the case. This would only need to be done when shipping as there is enough friction between the neck support and the case lid to hold the guitar in place when carrying it. Also if you notice I had to massage the foam a bit for the lower bout as I mentiond it is wider. GC Electric is the model of that case.

Yes, I tested out my 660-12 and it fits into the SKB Freedom model for Fender Strats. The fit for the bottom (round end) of the guitar is a snug fit... it will not bounce around. Wereas there is open space in the cavity for the Cresting Wave horns compared to the cavity set up for the Strat horns, but because of the snug fit on the round bottom the guitar will not move around, so no problem for the Cresting Wave horns.

The Strat headstock and Bridge is a little longer than the 660 meaning that the 660 is a little short of a perfect fit into the indented cavity for headstock, but the 660 neck rests on the neck rest. I suppose one might use some strong gripping and remold or crunch the furry fabric-covered foam, an inch or so at the headstock cavity-neck rest joining area ---- enabling a more roomier fit, which would be as good as the Ric 660 molded case (I think they also were made by SKB).

The SKB Freedom Strat case will work OK .
