Interesting Rics

I was in one of our local LA music stores today and ran into these. They were way up high on the wall and I took the picture with my camera phone so it was the best I could do.

The convertible was listed as a 1967 366.................and it does look like one except for the dot neck.

The other was listed as an early '80's 360-12.............but it was double bound (great fireglo but lot's of player ware). I didn't think they made those in the early '80's.

Anyway, I was hoping you guy's (and/or Gals) might be able to shed some light on them for me.

Thanks!

Well, the dot-neck 366/12 is certainly an oddity! Double-bound 360's were indeed made in the 80's, going back to as early as '77 (talking about 24-fret models here).

That certain guitar store is down the street from me...I talked to them about the dot neck 366, played it. Didn't look like a re-neck, though I'd say the guitar itself was a 7 out of 10. Strings were on backwards too. Asking 4 grand, been saving up for it.

The early 80's 360-12WB looks like it may be a B-series. Toasters and I think those are Klusons. If it's an '82 or so...

Maybe, maybe not. The tailpiece and knobs are replacements, so the toasters may be as well. Also, the 360/12BWBs featured an "AFG" color that makes them look orangey.

It stannds to reason, since BWB's came with an R tailpiece and chrome-topped knobs. Hard to discern "orangey" from the picture. I'm just saying, if it's an '82 or thereabouts...

It's funny that this came up.. My third Ric was a mid-80's 360/12WB. I so much wanted a "Harrison" 12 string, but it did have an "orangey" look to it even though it was a Fireglo. When everyone asked me what color it was I told them, "Fireglo" - they were puzzled... I'll try and dig up a few pix.. I later ordered a vintage nameplate and knobs. The nameplate didn't fit so I never installed it, I did change the knobs.... I know I have them.... It had the "R" tailpiece, HI Gains, and the triangular inlays. I really miss it and I am sorry I traded it in....
