Interesting 360

Over the weekend I watched the excellent Rolling Stones documentary "Gimme Shelter" again and noticed something I hadn't before during Jefferson Airplane's set. Check out this pic (Paul Kantner on the left): His 360 has stripes wrapped around the body. Does anyone know the history of this? I mean, was this done by RIC especially for him? Also I found the clear and blank TRC to be interesting.

I think it used to be a convertible model, and he used the stripes to hide the holes left behind by the comb.

Don't know for sure, but I heard it was black electrical tape.

Yes it's tape.
We covered this on this forum about a year ago I think, with more pictures. I seem to remember he's done the same thing to another Ric too.
I'll try to find the link again.

That was my understanding, too.
BTW, his name is
Paul not
Jeff ...

Yeah, I knew that but had a brain fart and typed Jeff for some reason. Maybe because of "Jeff"erson Airplane.

There are quite a few links to this if you do a search but I couldn't find the one from last year.
Here are a couple more pictures.

The pickguard shape indicates it is a 366-12. The tape does cover the areas below the neck pickup and above the bridge pickup where the screw holes are.
Anyone know if he still owns this guitar?

That's because the guitar is
supposed to be a 366/12.

+1
It is a 366/12 and last year a seemingly identical one popped up for sale at Guitar Center (and I posted a thread about it), but it was undecided if it was a replica, or Kantner's old guitar...
