What's the scoop on RIC acoustics? Never again? New line on the horizon?

A search of this forum would show many threads dedicated to the acoustics. Paul Wilczynski has taken over limited orders for building Rickenbacker acoustics.

All new flat top acoustics from Rickenbacker are being built by Paul, and have been for a few years now. Anyone can order one directly from him or through an authorized dealer.
Look over at his "Projects nearing completion" thread in the "Reflections of a curmudgeon" section of the forum for pictures of the three very recently completed ones.

If you do decide to look at that thread, I would advise you to proceed with caution.
Paul's Rickenbacker acoustics are some of the most beautiful guitars ever made, and you are going to want one as soon as you see the pictures!

Have your CC handy.
The most tempting thread on the Forum.

Indeed - they're gorgeous!
Hopefully I'm going to win the lottery this xMas... I really need to after bidding on one of Jonny Buckland's Fenders for way too much

All very well understood and appreciated.
However, my question is not about production of current acoustic orders, but rather about the general plans for the acoustic line. Since all of the acoustic models have been discontinued officially, does this mean that RIC will be dropping the acoustic line altogether, or are there plans to reinstate the line, at some point?

It is my understanding, for various reasons RIC Corp. could not find enough properly trained and talented luthiers to produce the acoustic line. Aside from experience, there were also economic factors in living in the increasing expensive Santa Ana area, commuting, etc. The acoustic production, which was always a slow and low volume process, was put on hold for a short time and then Paul entered the pictured. So he is now the talented and trained luthier producing RIC acoustics. While the website does say the 700 series is discontinued, I have to assume that if the factory could find a cadre of luthiers who could start work and continue commercial production on at least a limited scale at the quality level RIC requires and would allow them to take a semblance of volume orders, the line would officially continue. But since that seems unlikely, Paul is your present and future and only option.
Best,
Manta

I'm thinking about making acoustics too.
I saw one with a Piezo I'd like to try.

Well, they made a frying pan - why not a baking pan?

Wouldn't that be a cakezo, rather than a piezo?
Rickenbaker?
