Downtime That Will Be Known As: The Christmas DT 2009
Hey guys,
At about 10PM EST we seem to have hit a kernel bug and the server simply crashed.
I was sleeping, so basically it stayed down until I woke up and saw it.
Sorry for that... I hope everybody were too drunk or something so nobody noticed

Gil: We noticed and thanks for your prompt attention.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I was wondering what happened. Thanks for getting it back up!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Oh I noticed alright..........it happened on my watch Thanks for fixing the problem Gil. I am assuming you had to perform a reboot of the servers?

It's a single server and actually - It has a hardware watchdog that I configured to automatically reboot upon lockup, it failed to boot as less than a week ago - the first HD failed and I had it replaced (nobody noticed as we have a raid in place), I forgot to reinstall grub on the MBR so it couldn't boot...
So long and thanks for all the fish!
