This is the first of 2 tracks that I've written and recorded specifically for submission to the RRF3 CD.
For this project I've written, recorded and played all the parts myself.
The Rythm parts are played on my 360/12 Jetglo.
The riff is played on my 'new' 330/6 BlueBoy.
The lead parts are played on my 620/6 Desert Gold.
The bass is a Hofner.
I welcome all comments, suggestions and criticisms.
Cheers.
Rob.

I think you did a really great job with this tune. It really has a strong Beatles/Lennon 'feel', both in the songwriting and the vocal recording/delivery. The only thing I would have preferred is that the recording was cleaner - or - that you mixed it so that it got really clean and present for a short while in the middle. But...., that's just my 2 cents. Your song sounds great, as is.
Ya gotta bear with me...... I'm old school and still like things sounding clean (even distortion, and especially, vocals). I know that reverb on vocals has been out of favor for years, but I'm also a big fan of that, too. It seems that the trend is to have folks sound like they are singing at you from the passenger seat. What can I say? I'm a fossil.

Very catchy, Rob. Can't comment on the recording quality as I'm listening through crummy speakers but it passes the lo-fi test and ought to sound great in the car. I like this song a lot and if I listen again it will be stuck in my head for days.

Very nice. Catchy. The vocals sound good, but a bit over-processed to me. I listened to your other tracks, too, and this is my favorite. Looking forward to the next installment.

Nice one, Rob. I liked the production overall, including the doubled lead vocal line. Production style is all subject to bias, I admit. One thing I heard in my head that I didn't hear on your recording was vocal harmonies here & there for emphasis. Again, an opinion subject to my bias.
In addition to the Lennon reference, it also put me in the mind of The Byrds and Simon & Garfunkel.

This is great. Like others, I'm not listening on the best speakers, but from what I can hear I like the mix and production; the effect on the vocals and where they sit in the mix sound just about right to me. Great guitar hook, too. Bravo!

Mr. Bob,
Great job on "The Vane." As good as the guitars sound, the instant your vocals came in I was more impressed; clean, crisp guitars and bell-ish vocals! Great sound, and a lyric that doesn't overpower the guitars. There is enough spacing to exemplify both. The most interesting thing I heard was a mimicking sound I heard attached to the guitar melody. It actually sounded like a horn to me, low/muffled up and down. The more I listened it actually sounded like the low sounds one hears when bagpipes are played quietly in the background before the highs come into play. You may not have noticed it, or you have, but never attached the previous descriptions to them. It's what struck me. Again, good job friend...looking forward!
