Who thinks Rick Rubin should produce a Paul McCartney Album.

I'd like to see a T-Bone Burnett produced Macca album...

I saw T-Bone Burnett perform solo at a local theater, nearly twenty years ago. He took the stage right after a group that had about twenty musicians in it (Tonio K and band)...and I have to tell you that this man, with just a guitar, had more musiciality, power, presence and charisma to him than the entire 20 person ensemble did before him. Some people are amazing.

I saw T-Bone with Alison Krause & Robert Plant, what a great guitarist, and nice vintage guitars, too.

I'm not familiar with ALL the artists Rick produced, but I have enjoyed his work with Johnny Cash and Tom Petty. "Wildflowers" by Tom Petty is one of my favorite albums of all time.

TP said that Rick usually made whichever musicians were present perform live as a band. I'm not sure about the albums Paul's done, but I've always been under the impression that since the days of "Sgt Pepper", Paul usually worked a rhythm track first, with drums and keyboards, then overdubbed whatever other instruments were needed on however many tracks were wanted.

I know "McCartney" and "Memory Almost Full" featured all instruments and vocals by Paul (not sure about other albums), so maybe he and Rick would not work so well?

I don't know, Jake---the first Cash album that Rubin produced was American Recordings, and it was just Cash and his accoustic guitar. Rubin loved the starkness of it. So, it is a pretty cool thought to have him produce a McCartney album. I don't see it happening, as McCartney has been riding a huge wave over the last 10 years. Rubin rescued Cash from the doldrums after he was just about abandoned by his prior couple record companies.

Also, Chaos & Creation featured McCartney playing all instruments on much of the album. Same with the last Fireman album.

Seeing as how Paul was only recently unchained, I would find it quite appropriate.
