Shari & I watched that on DVD yesterday evening to ring in 2010! Love that movie.

2010 is the last signpost of Yesterday's Tomorrows for me. The 1st one was "Frankenstein 1970" then "1984", and "2001:A Space Odyssey" Now there are no other imagined futures that I will see in my lifetime. 2012 does not count because that date didn't enter the popular consciousness until The History Channel broadcast “Decoding the Past: Mayan Doomsday Prophecy” in 2006.This show was very loosely based on the theories of John Major who called this program "45 minutes of unabashed doomsday hype and the worst kind of inane sensationalism"

+1! I liked that movie as well. Tied up a lot of loose ends from the original, speaking of which, I could have done without the dated, silly psychedelic entering Jupiter's atmosphere scene...I know, sacrilege to say that, right?

i have two comments to make...when the russian space craft used the air brake system around the planet to slow down, sparks were falling downward from the ball of flame that engulfed it just like the old flash gordon series from the '30's !!!!

the next comment is the 2010 theme at the begining of the movie ends just like chris squire's "fish out of water" ends...take a listen to both but listen to 2010 first which is in the clip at the begining of this topic. then post your comments to my comments so that we may comment to each other on this comment ?

Just watched 2010 but didn't see sparks falling down, but did think of the "canvas" material they deployed, the amount of burn and material trail they left, and that it was impossible.
