Has anyone used Rickenbacker strings on any of their other guitars, such as a Strat, Tele, Lp, etc? If so, what was your experience?

I was on my way to my local shop to get some strings for my Strat and Tele when I realized I've got a dozen or so sets Ric strings.

I've used them on a Strat, Richard..... no probs at all!

Same as I've used Fender Super 250s on a Rick..... no probs at all!

I makes a Strat sound like a Rick.

I've never used Rickenbacker strings on my Strat, but I have tried compressed nickel wound strings (GHS Nickel Rockers).
They seem pretty close to RIC strings, to me. They just didn't have the "snap" of roundwounds. Which is the sound that I'm really looking for out of a Strat. I do use GHS Nickel Rockers on my 350V63 and they sound great with the Toasters. The Strat gets D'Addarios.

If you would like your Stratocaster to sound somewhat like a Rickenbacker, try having your circuit wired so that the neck and bridge pickup are on at the same time.

Why would I want my Strat to sound a Rickenbacker? I've got 4 Rics that sound like a Rickenbacker.

I'm just trying to get out of spending any more money this month than I have too.

I've used both Ric strings and Fender strings on the respective guitars. Now I use D'Addario or Ernie Ball rounds on a 6-string and TI Flats on a 12-string, and I plan to try Curt Mangan strings on all of them. Makes me happy, gives me no problems and I haven't got any complaints.

Interesting question. Lovers of that gauge of strings might just want to try it on their other guitars. I haven't tried it, but the standard RIC string set has almost the identical gauges as one of the Ernie Ball or Dean Markley sets, so it's not going to make your guitar go wacky or anything; the bass/lower strings are just a bit lighter than the standard .010-.046 set. the Dean Markley set is the F150 .010-.038
