Well i wouldnt mind it. Got me thinking about the Register and its contents..What would be the rarest one we have in there?

Oh and Ive had this as a Wallpaper now and again im quite fond of this Dec 1957 Autumnglo 360/6 F : Just would change that lower pick guard to gold.
Oh and i have to say i much prefer the tail piece on this so much better than the elongated `R`But thats a prefence thing i suppose.

But, to get back to the question: what would be the rarest guitar in the register?
Is it possible to check for that one way or another? Quite interesting!

I know you set the guitar needs some fretboard work G, but are you going to keep the finish in BB?

Certainly for the next few years, yes. A refin at some stage would be nice though

Don't touch that finish!! (Assuming it's original.) Rickenbacker built a set of "Blue Boy" guitars for Jim Reeves and the Blue Boys in the early '60's--there's a pic in Richard Smith's book. According to Smith, the set consisted of a 360F, a 4000 bass, and a custom flat-top acoustic (dubbed a "Blue Boy Martin" on the factory invoice). The guitars and the bass were old-style construction with gold pickguards and nameplates, unlike the one in the post, which appears to be a late-'60's version. I knew about the earlier ones long before Smith's book came out (the first time I saw pics), because I was on the road in 1981 with Reeves' former drummer, Jim Orr (who's in the pic in the Smith book), and he told me about those guitars. He couldn't remember model numbers--he was a drummer, after all, and it had been many years since he'd played with Reeves--but he did remember that they were custom-made for the band. I've been under the impression that the early-'60's set made for the Blue Boys were the only Ricks done in that color until fairly recently, but that 360-12F looks to be '67-'68 or so. What year did Jim Reeves die? It's possible that the 360-12F could have been built for him or his guitar player, whose name was Leo, I think--I can't remember his last name. 360-12F's are mighty thin on the ground in any color--I'd bet that one's one-of-a-kind.

Hi Jon, that one has been refinished. As far as I know, Rickenbacker built the original three Blue Boys and then none others until 2002, when the color was made available to the Japanese market. In 2004, it became available in the US for one year.

There was one replica 700C/6 built in BB for Yokohama a decade or so back; I restored that guitar for its owner, and built him a 12 string to match.
