I remember trying to figure out Paint It Black on one of these "vintage" models.

The Silvertone name was resurrected a number of years ago but with no affiliation to Sears AFAIK.

Yep, obviously it's just the name on a copy guitar that bears no resemblance to the original. I have an old Silvertone with the amp in the case; it's a pretty cool little guitar with a huge sound. The lipsitck p/up, wooden bridge, and chambered construction give it the sound of a jazzy hollowbody when played cleanly.

Ah, thanks for the update. The old Sears model played pretty well, actually. We had one hooked up to a Sunn amp and it sounded great (in 1965!!).

It's ironic that a Silvertone guitar/amp package is roughly the same price in 2010 as it was 45 years ago in 1965!

Boy, was this a blast from the past for me! Made me loose an hour of precious time! I found info on my first bass amp because of this thread! Still have the 6 Jensen 10" drivers.

I had one of those amps in the '60s. Purchased it new. I don't remember it having six 10's though. Did they make a bottom with one 15? I recently sold a Silvertone (Danelectro) all tube bass amp.

Ken, not sure if it came with a 15. I got mine used around 1968.

The 1463 as listed there.One of my friend's brothers had one, sounded good but not really loud.Comparable to a Bassman.

The 1484s as on that site, were all over the place, easily the most common single amp type.
The organist in one of my high school bands has a 1485, it was a loud 'un and good tone,ecxept a cheesy reverb.

I remember fitting it and my '61 Bassman in the back seat of my Corvair,plus John's Melody Maker and my EB 2. Stan's organ in thr trunk ,and we were on our way to the gig.
Harold the drummer had his own car,good thing as he had a large Ludwig set.

When I got that amp, it relieved the Gibson 400. Both guitarists, my bass, and the mics went into that old Gibby.

And it took it.

I have a Silvertone amp.
