Today I installed the scatterwound pickups I got from forum member Krick. We traded my hot toasters for his scatterwounds. I wired the guitar as per old specs, with 250k volume pots and 500k tone pots. I also installed the .0047 cap to try it. I quickly bypassed that as it simply made the bridge ridiculously bright. Without the cap, with the new pots and new pickups this guitar has come alive! I am so happy with it. The neck pickup is so clear now, I could play it all day. The bridge is much better and the blend of the two pickups is much much better. I can get such a range of sounds. When I really crank up my amp, the clarity and "clankiness"/ring of this guitar really shine through! Sweet! I also received my Weber Blue Dog 15" speaker today to put into my Traynor Bassmate combo. This guitar and that amp was always a great combo but now its amazing! Sweet!

Welcome to the scatterwound club, Daniel. Please send us along a nice photo of your Rickenbacker.

Good idea! I have to warn you though, it will more than likely be a lousy photo of a beautiful guitar! :D

Ok you asked for it and here it is. A really pro pic of my guitar  The contrast in this photo is awful actually. This guitar has a very defined Fireglo, but it looks much nicer than it does in this pic. Because of the strong contrast with the Fireglo and the white pickguards I find that in low light, on stage the guitar really looks great!

My eyesight's going! Wait, nevermind, it's the photo... ;) I'm kidding. That's a really striking guitar. Thanks for posting the pic. I like the all white background. Your description is dead-on;the FG is strikingly contrasted by the guards.

I just received my first Rick with "Scats" a couple of days ago. My reaction is similarly favorable to yours. It was the first time I'd played a six string with Scats as well. I haven't played a 12 string with "Scat" p/ups either. I've always been a hot toaster pickup player. I really like the sound of the Scats, even with distortion, which I'd heard Scats didn't go well with. I still love my hot toaster guitars, but it's nice to have another sonic Rick texture in the guitar stable. :)
