I've heard from several of you guys saying that you're stuck in a rut, listening to the same stuff over and over. I'll expose you to some new music that you should give a fair listen to. I'll try to cover different genres of music. If it's heavy metal, I'll give you a head's up, but i don't like the type of heavy metal that the vocalist sounds like he's having his spleen torn out through the whole song anyway! If anyone has any suggestions, send them to me!
The first band I thought should at least have some Rick content.
This band is Death Cab For Cutie. The band's name comes from song performed by the group, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, in The Beatles' 1967 film, "Magical Mystery Tour".
The first time I heard this song, I was riding in my car and the first thought that came to mind, was the singer sounds alot like a certain singing bassist that gets alot well deserved praise on this forum. Then I got hooked on the song. The singer, Bejamin Gibbard doesn't seem to sound like our beloved singing bassist on other songs. Check this one out! It's used in the movie, "New Moon"

This sounds like a fun series! I've gotten into Death Cab for Cutie in the last year or so, good stuff!
Well....live and learn. I didn't think I'd like this group at all. But if the rest of their material sounds as good as "Meet Me on the Equinox" then I may become a fan.

I've always liked this one, perhaps it's because of the long bass intro...

Me too!
Geez, La Guardia airport...I used to drive by there several time a week. On rainy days, if were right outside the airport, driving on the Grand Central Parkway, you'd think like the approaching airplanes were going to land on your car!

Both videos sound fantastic!! I love the sound of the bass in the second one!! Looks to me like a Gibson or Epiphone semi-acoustic . . . What a sound!!!

The overdriven bass tone in the first song, "Meet On The Equinox" sounds equally is great. I really like Nick Harmer's playing in the song.

I've been a fan of Death Cab For Cutie for a while. This is the first song I had heard from them.

Hey, you old people, there's a lot more out there than just The Beatles and The Byrds... (ducks for cover)
Yeah, I'm in my 50's so I'm officially an old person, and yeah, there are a lot of new "artists" that, in my opinion aren't worth listening to. But there is some really great talent out there. I think this series could be a great introduction to some of the new groups and a lot of fun new music to learn to play...

Anyone know what he's using to get that overdriven tone?
