Long time reader, first time poster.

Oh man, I've been getting Rick Fever every winter for a couple years and this year it's bad. After moving away from Ricks (I know, I know) .. I made an impulse buy of a 660 BBR in late '07, thinking it was a 660/12, kept it anyway, Winter '08 660/12 AFG arrived followed by a 1996, then THIS winter it began quietly with a 360/12c63 FG followed by a 4001c64 FG and then a 381v69 AFG (Thank's Mr. Witty) and now I've got my sights on another Rick.

... I've got a wife and family, where will it stop ?

How do you guys shut it down? ... or do you ?

I can report there is no known cure, my friend. There may be periods of remission, but overall you'll wrestle with this (at times) expensive malady the rest of your days. Think of the RRF as your group therapy.

Nah, you don't shut it down, you can only try to limit it. I only bought 2 new Ricks last year...

We just all fall victim to RAS.

Group therapy, yes; but we'll also act as enablers, too.

Ain't that the truth, Jim.

At some point, you feel you have enough, and though the urge tugs when you see certain instruments, you become a little resistant to that tug. I have 5, and I almost went for another a few weeks back, but in the end I really couldn't justify it.

I'm holding in at 4 Ric basses for a couple of years now. I went through an acquisition phase after getting out my 4001S again. I could see myself getting a new one if Ric came out with a '59 4000 re-issue or similar. Actually, I should write that I'd eventually get one after waiting patiently...

My rick fever is unabating and I think I'm having a recurrence of that secondary infection.... JMI Vox's. Ugh. It's gonna be a really good.... err, bad spring.
