I like the stacked EV cabinets.

the pic is from 1981. the band was "TITAN" from halifax, nova scotia, and the bass was my deluxe MD 1252. i put walnut head wings,mini schallers, a second neck pickup from my MJ 4844, a second toggle to switch between the neck pickups, a bad arse bridge, and a mixer control ! yes a mixer control. thought it would be cool on a 4001.

oh yes, i forgot...my two EV B215M cabs before they shook apart ! on top of those you'll see a fender 300 rack mount . did not work out so i dumped it.

That Fender amp, what was it, the BX300, was pretty innovative and feature-full for it's time, IIRC.

i just looked in my road journals and i have it listed as a fender F-300.

titan was together a long time...mid '70's to mid '80s. i was in for '81-'82. it toured the east coast of canada and was big out there. we recorded a demo for kim fowley (runaways fame) in toronto with bob segarini in spring of '82. covers live were ac/dc, deep purple,tubes, genesis, joan jett, stones, beatles, quite a variety plus the originals ! demos were rock/pop. i used three ricks, custom p-bass w/rick rear pickup after the splits, '77 stingray jetglo , gibson eb with slotted headstock , steinberger bass first production run !

I used to have a '72 Telecaster Bass that I put a hi-gain in near the bridge and a BA II bridge. That hi-gain now lives in the neck position of a '72 Jazz Bass that a friend of mine in Philly has.

in addition to the mods on the MD, there was a mini switch between the volume controls for the filter cap in/out option. this added even more tonal choices...and see... no other manufacturers pickups...it's all rick ! in the pickguard , which was from my '73 geddy jetglo, the neck position has the original toaster, and the second pickup is a '73 high gain. i kept the rear pickup cover as i used it for working over the neck pickups for diggin' or noodling ! the cover doesn't bother me. i was trained early in life to copy squire as much as possible ! if he could do it, then i could make the adjustment as well. under the cover is a slotted screw high gain / large magnet. this is the bass that was the donor for the pickups for my '64 4001s/rm1999. btw...it sounded pretty cool with all three pickups on ...with the filter cap in or out.

actually, that "rickenfaker" belonged to a friend of mine (notice the neck pickup wire rout and straight cut control cavity). he emailed it to jeff. i have it at my place now and showed it to bassduke when he visited. the guys girlfriend got drunk before xmas, became beligerant and grabbed his rickenfaker and smashed his two tv sets and all his stuff. this was the best asian knockoff i had ever seen down to the checker binding and neckthru. the pickups were typical junk so i gave him a couple of my rick pickups. sounded great and played fantastic. non repairable, this is one less mr. hall has to worry about !

Unusual for a faker, the fingerboard wood looks the proper color.

These originals were not great but here they are, nontheless.
