I want this guitar! I used to like him before he became famous(Herd,Humble Pie,Frampton's Camel). Me and my roomates did setup for a concert he played to my college in 1973.That was the first Les Paul I saw.

I read/heard somewhere that his original one was destroyed when a plane that was carrying all of his equipment crashed.
Of course this was years ago....my memory fails me at times.

Oh that's a shame. What's the story with this guitar? What year was it made? Was the 3rd pickup on the guitar when he got it or was it added later(I saw an old vid of him with a black LP with 2 pickups).

I have to check, the Hard Rock here in Miami has a Black Gibson LP and his voice box in a glass case as you enter from the multi-level parking lot. I took a picture of it a while ago....if I can find it, I'll post it. If memory recalls it sure had a LOT of use!

Did I read somewhere that he had it hollowed out/chambered a bit because it was too heavy?!

He mentions getting the 'Black Beauty' LP in the Les Paul Chasing Sound show... wish I could remember who he said turned him on to the 3 p/u Paul.
Oddly enough my acoustic duo recently added a Frampton song to our ever-growing setlist.
