Switch problem

Not that I am trying to hurry to the famed 100th-post-count so that I might peruse the illusive Rickenbacker Market place - But I actually do have another question: (as well as adding to my post count)
My switch suddenly jumps to the center without any bidding to do so on my part - this happens often: is there a way to either loosen or tighten the switch so that it will stay put?

That does eventually happen to many of these types of blade switches, but is easy to remedy. All you need is a needle nose pliers and a bit of patience. Take the pickguard (PG) off the guitar and turn it over so you can see how the switch works; there are two metal "pads" that make contact with the black plastic end of the toggle under the PG. These need to be re-bent to the correct position; trial and error will get you there, just gently bend the offending tab till the switch works properly again.
