That was my first thought, too. They gave too little thought to aesthetics.

Kira, Yamaha made something very similar a few years back, the EZ-AG Acoustic and the EZ-EG Electric. Not the same thing, but they supposedly work well and can be had for a fraction of the cost of some high end, functionally similar controllers.

The Yamaha system seems to have been better thought out but..................neither are my cup of tea. Prediction............just another MIDI controller that will disappear with the passage of time.

I agree, but if something is going to be novelty I will take the $300 novelty over the $2,000 novelty any day. As someone who plays guitar but not keyboards, I do think it could be useful for recording organ or mellotron, doing some creative things you might not normally consider.

The complete absence of strings separates it from the Yamaha, but other than that I agree with the consensus. If they don't manage to make it more attractive than a half-consumed lollipop I doubt it will catch on. It came up in discussion of Apple's new touchscreen product.

I think running some iphone music apps in a larger size is one of the coolest possibilities in the iPad.

The MISA is a whole lot of new, digital technology to use just to play '80's metal riffs.

My take on this is that it's little more than an expensive Rock Band controller. Sure, it can actually be used as an instrument and undoubtedly can produce some unique sounds, but when you hand the bulk of the effort over to a machine and take it away from the player, the first thing you lose is soul and the second thing you lose is my attention.
