Haze (not purple) on my bass

Opened the case to my FG4003 4-2-5 today to find the instrument with a cloudy looking haze covering most of the finish. I thought maybe it was moisture but it would not wipe off. Got out the Zymol and it cleaned up nice and shiny. What would cause the haze ? Are there chemicals in the case that could do this ?

Something has evaporated and made a deposit on your finish...(obviously, I know...). I'd suspect case cement above all else, although I've not experienced this, and the glue is supposed to be benign, once it's cured.
Glad you got it back to shiny! A good coating of wax is the best insurance against most forms of surface contamination.
