I've had a rider on my Allstate homeowners insurance plan to insure my guitars, but it all changed today.
When I went to add a recent new purchase to my plan, I was asked if I would be using this particular guitar for "work".
I wasn't going to use the new guitar just yet, but I have 2 other guitars that I use all the time for gigs. I was told that they require a separate policy, and here's the best part; they couldn't offer me a policy for them. It was then that I remembered some previous posts from forum members who had endorsed the Heritage Insurance Company.
I called Heritage (215) 322-8705, and I was happy that I did. I had my brand-new insurance plan within a half-hour, and get this; my guitars are covered virtually everywhere against theft (Even on gigs! At Bars!) and accidental damage. The price was right, and the coverage is great - I'm even covered for the three weeks that I may have to wait to get the bill, with no advance payment required.
Great coverage at a good price, and Working-Musician Friendly! If you have a half-decent sized collection, do yourself a favor and check out their website. The minimum plan is $250/yr, but that covers a LOT of instruments.
A Big Thumbs-Up to Heritage Insurance Company!

Re: THE Company to Insure Your Valuable Rickys!
Perfect timing on this post Bob, thanks!
I was just going over my Homeowner's policy, and I'm getting hit pretty hard for a "RIDER" on my RICS.
I was just wondering if it would be cheaper to insure them through Heritage vs my Homeowner's which only covers them on premise.
I'll make the call tomorrow and see how much they want.
Thanks again!

Sounds great!
I pay quite a lot for my insurance (about $1000 a year) and it doesn't include "all risk" insurance on my instruments as I barely perform, I do have it on my cameras though.
It got really high since I started collecting rick (practically doubled itself) and I am looking for local alternatives.
Just one advise - the quality of your insurance agent is determined not by how nice they are or how cheap they are, it is determined by how cooperative they are in case and you have to sue the insurance company.

So long and thanks for all the fish!
