If anyone has a hole burning in their pockets, the price of the 1999FG has come down over $600 in the last week here in Japan!

That looks nice, looks a lot like Jeffs V63. I wonder if this is going to replace the C64 & C64S,and if so what would the price be.

I don't think so. 1999s are born for the Japanese Market, but of course i hope as you that Ric will introduce the same model for the rest of the world, but i guess that the price will be really high.

Think I'll take a nice '72/'73 at that price.

And I'm diggin' my (now shoeless) '92 4001V63FG: http://rickresource.com/register/viewit ... ine%3Dtrue too much to justify $3500 for a bass so similar...Especially when I consider that the neck couldn't possibly be any better on the RM.

Still, I can't help lusting and drooling over the RM. It's an illness I tell you.

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Make it go away please!

:x

"Let me know when they come down another $1000..."

That's what I'm waiting for. AND, I'll be right there to snag one!

But, I recently got a 4001v63 for half that price, SO it would be hard to part with that kind of money.

nice bass but i'm not into the large radius of the surround at the pickguard. i like some of the v63's that had a very small tight radius at the pickguard as well as the surround. plus i like the tailoring of the rear flange on this v63...more scallop. this was an '87.
more squire like ! this is the rear pickup setup i got from RIC in '85 that went on my '64 4001s/rm1999.

It's funny, I was looking at these last week before I spotted a '72...I was thinking I might get one if only they came down a bit!

Still, I'm happy with my purchase...

It's funny. Everyone seems to have their own preferences regarding the V63/C64/RM RI. Some want small horns, some want a small neck, some want magnetized horseshoes, some want the longer headstock, some are bothered by a 7 screw tail piece, some don't like an upside down headstock, some prefer the nickle reverse tuners, some want a black nut, some want the tug-bar, some like the early V63 pickup surround, some want a pick guard that goes all the way to the surround...and the list goes on.

My own ideal RI RM bass would look like this:

Only I'd put a non-scooped pickup surround on, the all-black vintage knobs, and the tug-bar (at least...until I figured out if it was gonna bug me!)

8)

you forgot, some have horns spaced far apart or closer together, top horn is further up and the bottom horn is further back, big horns, small horns, black knobs, insert knobs, but all in all...the koolest thing i noticed about the 4000 series was the reverse klusons ! i said, if they (RIC) want to do things backwards...then they gotta be 8) ! and hey...my early model gibson grabber has 'em !

would like to know why mccartney dumped the original surround ? hhhmmmmmm !
