For pure Paul McCartney melodic genius, I'd say these 5 are on par with any of his elite Lennon/McCartney work:
Mull of Kintyre
Maybe I'm Amazed
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
Band on the Run
Live and Let Die
I'm considering these without taking into consideration that most of them have been overplayed to the hilt. Still, though, they show McCartney's sheer brilliance & command of the pop/rock genre.

Richard,
I forgot to mention that I listened to London Town today. I've always loved the song and album. The song is so smooth and gentle---great one.

How do I choose only five?
I would think about his strange or harder rocking things like "Give Ireland Back to the Irish" and "Hi Hi Hi"; "No Values" is a favorite, as is "Only Mama Knows". "Mumbo" stands out in my memory too. "Junior's Farm" was already mentioned. There are just so many different great ones.

Here are mine, I've based my choices (rightly or wrongly) on songs I consider good enough to have made it to a Beatles album.
1: Maybe I'm Amazed
2: Band on the Run
3: Every Night
4: Live & Let Die
5: Jet
Yep, all the commercial stuff, but also all the best stuff too IMO

Tough choice! My favourites, but not necessarily his best:
1. Arrow Through Me
2. Listen to What the Man Said
3. Picasso's Last Words
4. My Brave Face
5. Bluebird

3. Band on the Run
4. Live and Let Die
5. Listen what the man says
yes, they are all the hits, but I'm not an "in-depth" fan. I do like the album with "Junk" on it very much, though.

Yeah, another good one. Hence my difficulty in choosing five - the great ones from him are just so many. There are gems on every album.

I'm not going to list five because I only have a few of his albums, and most of those are recent (which I didn't care as much for), but my favorites are Maybe I'm Amazed and Another Day. Live favorites would be most songs off of Wings Over America
