I was wondering if anyone here has tried an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi with their Ric? If so, what was your experience and your opinion?

My son runs his 325v59 thru a Big Muff into a KT-66 powered 4x10" tweed combo.
Pretty damn cool if you ask me. He can take it from mild bite & gain up to full on 60's garage fuzz, with a couple of tweeks it can get a great QOTSA tone as well.

It's much more versatile than I would have guessed.

I'm not sure if it's the answer you're looking for, but I just mastered a song today where I play the solo on my 4001 with a big muff. Straight into the board, sounds like thousand angry wasps trying to crawl into my head. Exactly what I was after

I used to run my 360/12 through a Russian Big Muff. It sounded like mud.

So I borrowed my bandmate's NYC Muff. It sounded like mud salad.

Said bandmate also acquired a green Sovtek Muff. I haven't tried it yet, but I can guess it will sound like some form of mud.

Guess I'm not a huge fan of the Muffs...

The Green Muff rocks with a bass.
I used to use it with my 4003s5 through an Eden rig.
The Green Muff adds bass...i have never used a distortion/fuzz box that adds low end to the sound of a bass guitar like the Green Muff.

As for the Green Muff with a Rickenbacker guitar....
I have used it with my 330BB and 620/12BBR....
It sounds great for single notes and small chords....with big open chords all Big Muffs sound too muddy...IMO

I used an EH Double Muff with my 620 for a while (through Jazz Chorus). It didn't sound terrible, and I preferred it to the regular Big Muff. I'd like to hear if anybody'd played a humbucker-equipped Rick through one.

I use a Fuzz Face, which sounds similar to my buddy's Big Muff. The Fuzz Face and my 1997 with 12k toasters sing together. Distortion and a Rickenbacker is a very interesting sound, something those Fender and Gibson heads don't believe is a good sound.

Just tried out an Octavio with my 360/12. That's more like it.

I've used one on both my 360/6 and 360/12, and they sound awesome- very mad!
Haven't used them at gig volume though, so I don't know how it would be, feedback-wise. Probably equally awesome

There's about a million Big Muff's.


Let me just say.....the Russian ones are the best, by far.
