Hollies in The HOF

In a radio interview earlier this week, Tony Hicks announced that both he and Bobby Elliott will NOT be appearing at the Hollies' HOF induction. He said this was due to a previously scheduled gig at the London Palladium. As a long time fan who was looking forward to at least seeing the full line up of the original members once more, I was pretty upset. Gigs can be rescheduled, especially in a circumstance like this. I was wondering how others on the board feel about it... :(

i am a big Hollies fan, and I think it sucks. Maybe there's something behind the scenes (like sometimes happens with older groups)?

Good news folks.

I've just received an e-mail from Terry telling me that Allan, Graham, Bernie and Terry will all be at the RRHOF induction ceremony! :D

I totally agree with Jeff. Very poor consideration from Tony and Bobby. They may argue that THEY are the Hollies of 2010 and that the others jumped ship years ago. But you can't hide that it's the past that secures The Hollies into the HOF. Hicks and Elliott should be proud of having been a part of this. Is their position that The 2010 Hollies should be a part of the ceremony? Their (Bobby and Tony's) absence won't serve them. When will the induction ceremony take place? Is it a custom or possibility that the present members will perform music? I'd love to see Graham and Terry together- ever happened before? (And what about Rickfors- would he be a natural part of this?).

Good that Alan will, be there he is without doubt the voice of The Hollies.

Pity they can't invite Eric Haydock but there seems bitter wounds there.

Rickfors obviously a part of The Hollies story but two singles and one album only.

Having said that The Baby one of my all time favourite Hollies tracks

I liked the Rickfors Hollies album "Romany". Him and Sylvester sharing lead vocals, interesting development in styles, but maintaining their power. Didn't miss Clarke much.

Graham and Terry go back a bit as The Escorts used to open for the Hollies occasionally. I heard a recent interview with Terry up on YouTube and he and Graham have talked about doing a song or two but they were planning on the whole band being there. Maybe Terry can do Tony's parts.

I can't see this doing Tony or Bobby any good; they'll look like Paul McCartney did skipping the Beatles induction; petty.

Perhaps Allan and Graham can revive their younger days as Terry and Dean again... :D

That's a nice video Roy. Poor old Bernie. Not a single close-up and we see him only three times in wide shots. Ah, the life of a non-singing bass player.

Maybe they weren't sure which Bus Stop to go to. Or when to jump off the Carousel. Or maybe they Can't Let Go.

Must be some good reason.

Yes, it is custom for the inductees to perform at the ceremony. The last on-stage reunion of the five original Byrds was at their RRHOF induction ceremony back in 1991.

One of the most controversial induction ceremonies was when CCR was brought into the hall in 1993. John Fogerty, the incredible John Fogerty, and his two surviving band mates Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford (his brother Tommy had died in 1990) reunited for the occasion BUT when it came time for them to play together, Stu and Doug found that John had banned them from the stage saying he wouldn't perform if they did. There had been a long history of difficulties between the band members based mainly on business issues. I wonder what would have happened had Tommy been alive?

We're doing a lot of speculating here about Bobby and Tony but we really don't know what kind of contract that the Palladium show has or what kind of financial penalties might be involved in a cancellation that isn't some sort of "act of God" as they say. It's sad but I'm trying to give them some sort of benefit of the doubt.

In a radio interview this morning Tony Hicks said that date had been booked and tickets sold before they knew about the HOF.

However Bobby Elliot did say that Alan and Graham would be going on February 15th till interviewer pointed out event if March 14th or 15th.

David: CCR- ugly story! Dough and Stu worked hard in the shadow of the Great John Fogerty. They deserve quite some credit for that, but I don't know if their business claims are over the top. So sad to watch good love go bad, as the Everlys sung (ironicly enough, in hindsight!).

Those with tickets in London on Mars 15th will certainly be glad this concert is not cancelled or re-scheduled. But the HOF event is such a great one time only happening, and I think most people would have understood a change in plans. Well, a strange situation to be in- to be on the stage with your group at the same time that same group are honoured on a different scene.

No difference i'm afraid. From what i've heard, JC, Stu and Doug did play together for some party somewhere in the 80s, but not Tom. On the other hand, Tom did manage to "re-unite" CCR for a couple of songs on one of his solo albums but i doubt they were playing together (as in together) in the studio. Maybe he'd have managed to "re-unite" CCR as a trio (himself, Doug and Stu), but hardly he'd have managed to get his younger Big Brother in the team.
Sorry for going off topic.
